American Idol 2013 Recap Top 5 [VIDEO]: Angie Miller, Candice Glover, Amber Holcomb Show Diva Side / Janelle Arthur Next Elimination?
Last night's episode of American Idol 2013 marks the first time in show history the Top 5 is all ladies. It's been six years since a woman won Idol. Now it comes down to Angie Miller, Kree Harrison, Candice Glover, Janelle Arthur and Amber Holcomb.
Last night's themes were 'Year You Were Born' and 'Divas'.
Angie Miller chose "I'll Stand By You" by the Pretenders, which was written the year she was born. Though the performance was fine on normal standards, Miller still didn't connect with the song emotionally. Angie still seems to fall trap to Jimmy Iovine's "beauty pageant" syndrome. If the arrangement could have slowed down, with Angie Miller on piano, the song could have really blown America away. What do I know? The American Idol judges all gave Angie a standing ovation.

Candice Glover chose "Straight Up" by former American Idol judge, Paula Abdul. Glover did a fine job, but it wasn't the high-impact performance we're accustomed to from Candice. It was a good upbeat song but didn't showcase Glover's high-powered vocals.

Amber Holcomb took a risk performing the internation Mariah Carey [and Whitney Houston] hit, "Without You". Though the song has been nailed on previous seasons of American Idol, Holcomb put her own stamp on it in 2013. The low notes in the verses were a little lackluster but Amber Holcomb did not disappoint once the song picked up.
