American Idol 2013: Angie Miller, Amber Holcomb Dazzle Judges, Lazaro Arbos Likely Voted Off
Beverly, Massachusetts native Angie Miller performed "Anyone Who Had A Heart" (Burt Bacharach/Dionne Warwick) as her first Top 6 American Idol 2013 performance tonight.
Angie said before her performance "Anyone Who Had A Heart" appealed to her edgier side.
"It's really intense and dark, which I like. It doesn't have an old-fashioned sound; it has more of a modern sound so that's good."
After revealing her love for eating frozen shrimp [as in not cooked], Amber Holcomb took the stage as the second Idol act. Amber Holcomb chose to sing, "I Say A Little Prayer For You" which the judges could not stop raving over.
Nicki Minaj declared Amber as her favorite girl in the competition, adding, "sometimes when the boyfriend's not around you can really focus."
Boyfriend? Possibly a reference to last week's elimination, Burnell Taylor?
Also blown away, Randy announced, "the competition just started, y'all...Amber has arrived."
A speechless Mariah Carey had to refer to her notes, simply telling Holcombe the performance was, "genius...A plus, amazing."
Keith Urban, who always has some of the best critiques complimented Amber for never "over-performing." From the minute the doors opened, "it was like a summer breeze blew in."
Next up is the Top 6's weakest and most sympathetic contestant, Lazaro Arbos, is up next singing the Bacharach original and Carpenters hit, "Closer To You." As predicted, it was terrible. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E!
Randy Jackson called it "horrible." The judge told Lazaro his performance tonight wouldn't have enough made it past the audition.
Mariah Carey laughed.
Nicki Minaj didn't even comment.
Needless to say it was one of the most awkward moments in American Idol history.
