‘American Horror Story’ Seasons 5 Spoilers, Rumors: Possible 1950s Military Paranoia Setting for Next Season?

Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of the 'American Horror Story' has recently confirmed that every season of the TV show is connected to each other and there are clues in every season.

"They're all connected, they're all very separate but there's clues every season. There are purposeful connections, character connections, and similarities and things that connect that we'll continue to connect moving forward," Murphy claimed.

Murphy also confirmed that the truth about the fifth season starts with a top hat and Maggie's coffee cup is a big clue. Maggie is portrayed by Emma Roberts.

He also added that the top hat is an arcane clue, which is also a big clue for the fifth season, but it is purposeful and it illuminates something.

The top hat was shown in the third season, 'Coven', during the episodes "Misty Day" and "Papa Legba," Movie Pilot reported.

The motif was also seen in the fourth season, 'Freak Show', during the episode "Edward Mordrake."

On that note, the fifth season of the 'American Horror Story' will be set around 1953. It is during the year when "Operation Top Hat" was a secret U.S. army exercise for the Chemical Corps.

During these times, people are purposely exposed to dangerous contaminants in experiments for biological and chemical warfare.

Pictures of mushroom clouds hanging behind Jimmy, portrayed by Evan Peters, can be seen at the start of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'.

The mushroom cloud pictures in the scene links to the prospect of chemical testing and '50s military paranoia, Movie Pilot reported.

Murphy denied the rumors saying that the fifth season is space-related. He said that it is land-bound and it takes place in the United States.

The rumors saying that the fifth season is space-related came out when Elsa Mars, played by Jessica Lange, performed the song "Life on Mars," according to Movie Pilot.
