'American Horror Story' Season 5 Spoilers, News: Next Series Installment to be 'Reinvented'

The FX series "American Horror Story: Freak Show" recently aired its season finale last week, but both fans and critics are already in agreement that the show has regressed to a lukewarm state, to say the least. But they're not the only ones to notice, apparently.

CarterMatt recently posted that at the TCA Winter Press Tour, FX higher up, John Landgraf, suggested that the show would see a much bigger shake-up than what transpired between seasons three and four, titled "Coven," and "Freak Show," respectively.

"One of the things I love so much about (the franchise) is that it can be radically, radically, reinvented in terms of tone, setting, period, characters, cast; and I think there's going to be an unusually large reinvention between Book 4 and Book 5 relative to, say, between Book 3 and 4," Landgraf said.

The CarterMatt post points out that Landgraf did not reveal if Jessica Lange would be part of the season, pointing out that it's "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy who handles casting calls.

The post, however, was clear to point out that Sarah Paulson would not likely be back in a large role, due to her part in "American Crime Story," which is a similar case for Emma Roberts, who is on her way to "Scream Queens."

Dandy Mott actor Finn Wittrock, who has emerged as the unquestionable star of "Freak Show," for his part, has not confirmed leaving or moving on with the franchise.

"There has honestly been no conversation about it. I've just been trying to make life through this. If I do something else, the great thing about the show is I can do something completely and utterly different, which is what I want to do if I did it again," Wittrock told NOLA.

"There's a bunch of rumors about what it's going to be, and then that rumor's dispelled. Whatever the idea was, that's not the idea anymore. We won't really know until whenever," the actor added.
