‘American Horror Story’ Season 4 Spoilers: Characters and Returning Actors & Actresses 'Freak Show' Recap
The fourth season of 'American Horror Story:Freak Show',' premiered on Oct. 8 with an entirely new theme and direction.
The TV show, in its fourth season, has been set in the '50s, in Jupiter, Florida.
He also claimed that it is a combination of two time periods, with the '50s as its dominant era. Though the season will be set in Florida, they will shoot in New Orleans, according to Murphy.
The co-creator also revealed that Jessica Lange will be back to play the role of a German expatriate.
"Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent, so I'm very excited," Murphy said.
Aside from Lange, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy has returned as well. They will all play the performers who Lange happened to rescue.
Denis O'Hare and Emma Roberts were also announced to return in the new season. Murphy confirmed at PaleyFest that he is speaking to previous cast members Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton about potential roles.
He said that Jamie Brewer and Gabourey Sidibe are transitioning to 'Freak Show' from 'Coven'. Murphy also tweeted a picture of Paulson's character as a part of a part of the "freak show."
Murphy revealed that there will be new faces. Michael Chiklis would be joining the cast, playing the father of Peter's character and the husband of Bates.
Wes Bentley will play a role as a "tormenter" on the two-part Halloween episode and John Carroll Lynch will be in it as well. Patti LaBelle also joined the cast, as the world's smallest woman.
Though Lange has been the backbone of 'American Horror Story' since the beginning, she decided that season four will be her last due to the lengthy time commitment, co-star Peters told Vulture.
