'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers: ‘Freak Show’ Role for Sarah Paulson Will Be Most Challenging So Far

Gabourey Sidibe's appearances on American Horror Story: Freak Show might be limited due to her recurring role on FOX's drama series Empire, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the latest plot spoilers for the Freak Show, Sidibe did not appear on its progressing script, which suggests that the 31-year-old actress might not be able to give her full time for the show.

Empire is FOX's new hip hop drama series that is now in the works for its 2014 season. Sidibe plays the recurring role of Becky, Lucious Lyon's (Terrence Howard) hardworking assistant.

The new family drama centers on Howard's life and the people around Empire Entertainment. Sidibe's renewal was confirmed by director Lee Daniels in an interview with Hollywood Reporter.

Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story Season 4 is scheduled to premiere October 2014 with actors Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Frances Conroy.

Emma Roberts and Jamie Brewer were also announced to return on the show. Murphy expressed his excitement about Freak Show and commented that Paulson's character is both interesting and complicated.

"[Sarah Paulson is] the most challenging character I've ever created. I'm nervous for Sarah," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly Radio, noting that the actress' role entails physical rigors that are difficult to achieve.

The Freak Show is set in the 1950's famous Jupiter, Florida.
