'American Horror Story: Hotel' Spoilers, News: Show to Crossover With First Season

'American Horror Story: Hotel' will be introducing its viewers to a whole new form of terror with the upcoming season.

While every installment deals with another genre, it has been said that 'Hotel' will tackle vampires, or at least a pseudo form of the creatures.

"I prefer the term 'ancient blood virus,'" co-creator Ryan Murphy told EW. "It's not vampires." He adds, "It's really a form of hemophilia in a way. There's no capes and fangs."

The character that Lady Gaga is to portray, The Countess, is said to be afflicted with this "ancient blood virus," as well as Donovan (Matt Bomer) and Tristan (Finn Wittrock).

"Around the middle of the season, we sort of explore the origins of all that and her character and where [the virus] comes from," teased Murphy.

Regarding The Countess' iconic glove, the showrunner states that is how she and her followers kill their prey.

"Ryan wanted the glove to look like armor," explained costume designer Lou Eyrich. "So we started there, kind of Daphne Guinness-esque. But we wanted to make it our own and again timeless - Is it an old glove? Is it a new glove? We wanted it to look both rock 'n' roll but old at the same time. But then the nail that pops out with diamonds on the edge to slice you."

It was also suggested that this season of the anthology series will crossover in a way with the first season. Murphy has teased this concept before.

"They're all connected," said Murphy last October. "We're just beginning to tell you how they're connected. They're all very separate but there's clues every season that we're now telling you how the different worlds are intertwined."

'American Horror Story: Hotel' plans on premiering this October.
