‘American Horror Story’ Season 4 Spoilers : ‘Freak Show’ Release Date and Cast Rumors [VIDEO]
Some of the top returning cast members of Fox's American Horror Story: Freak Show are glad that they have dodged being "ticket taker" and will be taking on "freak" roles instead, in Season 4 of Ryan Murphy's creation.
No date has been listed yet, but the upcoming season is set to be released in Fall of this year.
Casting Rumors
Jessica Lange
Lead actress Jessica Lange is certainly coming back to play the role of a German expatriate whose job is to manage the freak shows in Florida, during the 1950s.
Angela Basset
Angela Basset spoke to E! Online and sounded excited about her role in the upcoming season.
"It's going to be tough, tough, tough to surpass Marie Laveau, it really is. She was truly a special phenomenon," Bassett tells E!
Basset recalled how the show's creator, Ryan Murphy assured her that she would not be a "bearded lady," in her upcoming role.
She added, "All [co-creator Ryan Murphy] has told me is I'm not the bearded lady, but he said, 'Oh it's better! It's even better than that!'"
The show's producers called her asking if she has any fear of heights. This she explained had given her an idea that her character would always be up in the air, said Enstarz.
Kathy Bates
Another top character in the Fox series is Kathy Bates who had kept her character under wraps in an interview with Buzz Sugar, noting that "there is a lot to be done before filming of the show begins," but she was generous to reveal more about the show's setting and some details of its production.
"In fact, I've just gone to costume fittings, and we're still developing the character. I haven't seen the script yet, and we start shooting in the middle of July, so time's a-wastin," said Bates.
The Titanic star may have been mum about her character in American Horror Story, but she was more than willing to talk about co-star Sarah Paulson's character. Reacting to Paulson's tweet on her twin heads, Bates claimed she was "surprised that Sarah Paulson came out with that she has two heads."
"I was like, 'What?!' But I think it's Ryan [Murphy] who disseminates that information when and where he wants to. I know he's talked about the fact that we're a freak show, and we're sort of in the last days of the freak show," Latino Post quoted Bates.
Michael Chiklis
Though he was announced to join American Horror, months back, Michael Chiklis's role in the series has been revealed by Murphy in TV Line's spoiler column, "Ask Ausiello."
"Franchise virgin Michael Chiklis will be playing 'a strong man who's married to Angela Bassett['s character],' Mstarz said quoting a TV Line report, noting that the confirmation was made at Thursday's Critics Choice Awards.
Murphy described the scenes Chiklis shared with the top female characters on American Horror Story.
He said, "He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and [onscreen ex] Kathy Bates. I love the part because it's really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well - the strong man who's vulnerable. I'm very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he's really up for it, really excited about it'.'"
