Alien Isolation Gameplay News: Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in New DLC Missions (VIDEOS)
Ghostbusters actress Sigourney Weaver will reunite with her former cast members from the original 1979 Alien film in the upcoming Alien: Isolation's DLC missions.
In a new interview, game's director Alistair Hope mentioned how amazing it was to witness Weaver return as the most recognizable character in her legendary film career.
"It was unforgettable when Sigourney came in and started being Ellen Ripley again. It was quite special. The real joy was having Sigourney say, 'Ellen would say this.' We'd all look at each other, and say, 'yes, of course that's what she would say'. That's an insight we couldn't possibly have without working closely with those guys," said Hope to IGN.
Along with Weaver, her Alien co-stars Tom Skerritt [Dallas], Harry Dean Stanton [Brett], Veronic Cartwright [Lambert], and Yaphet Kotto [Parker] also lend their voice and likeness in the recreation of their characters for the game.
"What if we could get the original cast back together? What if we could put them back on the Nostromo to face the creature? It just started from there...," said Hope, "But it was absolutely critical to have those characters reprising their roles for this to work. When Parker says, 'This plan is suicide' - it actually has weight to it, and that comes from having Yaphet Kotto delivering the lines.
Hope also revealed that the pre-order DLC missions (Crew Expendable and Last Survivor) will feature two iconic scenes from the original Alien movie.
"There's no point in us trying to match beat-for-beat what occurs in the film. The film is much better at doing that than a game," said Hope, "We came with the approach these guys had a plan to try and take on the alien, to flush it out of an airlock. What else could have happened?"
Alien: Isolation will be available in stores on October 7th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
