Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Returns from Suspension, A&E to Begin Filming New Season
The Duck Dynasty kinfolk said they are thrilled to be coming back following A&E's declaration it would continue shooting their hit reality show with Phil Robertson back in the fold.
"After discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family," the A&E station said in a report on Friday evening.
Previously, Phil Robertson had been banned from the show by A&E on Dec. 18 after expressing his views that Homosexuality is a sin in a recent GQ article.
"Back to work!!! So proud of all the fans of the show and family. Ole Phil may be a little crude but his heart is good. He's the Real Deal!," wrote Phil Robertson's son Willie via Twitter on Friday evening following the Duck Commander's reinstatement to Duck Dynasty.
A&E also issued the following proclamation, "While Phil's comments made in the (GQ) interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the 'coarse language' he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would 'never incite or encourage hate.'"
However, not everyone is pleased with Robertson's return.
"Phil Robertson should look African-American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists," said Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD).
On the other hand, Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins agrees with Robertson's return.
"The attacks on Phil Robertson revealed to the American people that the push to redefine marriage is less about the marriage altar than it is fundamentally altering America's moral, political and cultural landscape. A&E Network's reversal in the face of backlash is quite telling to the American people who are growing tired of GLAAD and cultural elites who want to silence people and remove God and His word from every aspect of public life", wrote Perkins in a public statement.
A&E is planning to air public service announcements "promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people."
