Given the massive success of E.L. James' erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey, it's no surprise the amount of buzz and speculation surrounding the movie adaptation. Since nothing has been confirmed out of the E.L. James camp, fans of the raunchy series, desperate for any info, are flooding cyberspace with their dream 50 Shades of Grey movie cast.

A-listers like Ryan Gosling, Matt Bomer, Alexis Bledel and Nina Dobrev are fan favorites among possible cast candidates to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel. Ian Somerhalder, co-star with Dobrev, in the CW smash series Vampire Diaries, is probably the leading contender for Grey, according to Twitter frenzy and fan polls.

One 50 Shades fan girl even made a mock trailer filled with clips of Ian Somerhalder, fashioned in a way to look like what the actual movie may turn out to be.

Somerhalder revealed some personal experiences with 50 Shades fans, desperate for him to take the lead. In a recent interview with the AssociatedPress, Somerhalder talked about one awkwardly intimate moment in a bookstore checkout line.

"You could see her blushing for a second. She saw that I saw the book, and I just smiled at her and said, 'It's a good read, huh?' And she goes, 'this is so embarrassing."

Well, if Somerhalder is a fan favorite for the role, wouldn't that make his Vampire Diaries love interest a suitable Ana? Their onscreen chemistry is a proven commodity with even more room to explore a kinkier dimension.
