Harry Styles is the latest name thrown into the ring for a possible role in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. Possible cast rumors also include Henry Cavill, Matt Bommer and Ian Somerhalder as sex maniac Christian Grey and Emilia Clarke, Alexis Bledel and Emma Watson as the delicate Anastasia Steele.

The One Direction singer recently admitted to reading the book and called it, "an educational and interesting read." Harry Styles and the rest of his boy band are reportedly working on music for the E.L. James erotic novel.

Choosing the boy band for the 50 Shades soundtrack seems crazy enough, let alone give the kid a role in the movie. What are the producers thinking?

Do they think the pop act could represent Anastasia's innocence and naiveté? If there's any truth to the speculation, they're most likely thinking One Direction and 50 Shades of Grey share the same 18-24 target audience. 

Could a song on the soundtrack be Harry Styles' transition from teen heartthrob to mature artist (a la Justin Timberlake...remember that curly fro?)? Or maybe the author has deep-seated desire for the pop star.

Either way I can't think of a single reason why One Direction would be a suitable option for the 50 Shades movie soundtrack music. Hopefully this is just gossip and Styles and Co. keep their distance.
