'24: Live Another Day' Renewed? Spinoff Spoilers; Fox CEO Ambiguous on Series Sequel
Following the hit season finale of '24: Live Another Day', the limited event television series on Fox TV comprising just 12 episodes, many are wondering whether the producers are working on a series spinoff. As it stands, Peter Rice, CEO of the Fox Networks Group, has admitted that he himself is a fan of the series, but so far, he is not fully committed to a spinoff series.
Recently, when Rice was on a Television Critics Association summer press tour he was questioned regarding the franchise's future, whether there would be a spinoff of '24: Live Another Day'. TVLine quoted Rice as saying, "I loved this year's season of 24. I've always been a fan."
Talking to the media and participants of the press tour, Rice said, "We haven't had a specific conversation about it coming back yet, but I'm sure we will in the future. It's a wonderful franchise. When you look at the show itself, it has many more stories to tell. I think we need to sit down and talk to the creators."
Meanwhile, Brian Lowry of Variety is of the view that the chances of a '24' TV series spinoff based on the results of the "Live Another Day" finale are very good.
Lowry wrote, "With all the changes being made and uncertainty surrounding Fox's schedule, one suspects there still might be a future for '24' as a utility player based on its summer results, assuming the parties are agreeable."
He further stated in his article in Variety, "In that respect, Jack might take some comfort in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, another protagonist bad luck appeared to follow around: 'Tomorrow is another day.'"
Even Michael Nadeau of Boston.com remarked that a friend has suggested an excellent idea for the potential next season of '24', with Kate Morgan engaging the services of Chloe, Tony Almeida and Aaron Pierce as they slip into Russia to bust him out of prison.
