’24: Live Another Day’ Canceled, Renewed? Series Ending Due to Ratings Drop?
After eight seasons of the series-thriller '24: Live Another Day', FOX might be pulling the plug on the show all together.
However, according to TV Series Finale, they still produced a 12-part mini-series to have "closure" for the characters. The continuation of '24' greatly depended on this 12-episode series. If the ratings were good, FOX would go ahead and continue producing the show.
TV Series Finale states, "' 24: Live Another Day': is set four years after the events of season eight and finds Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) in London, once again trying to prevent a global disaster. The rest of the cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Tate Donovan, Mary Lynn Rajskub, William Devane, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Giles Matthey, Michael Wincott, Benjamin Bratt, and Kim Raver."
The first episode of the mini-series aired on May 5 and the last was broadcast on July 14. Overall, the mini-series got 6.33 million total viewers. This is a 30 percent drop from their original statistics.
During the regular seasons, they averaged a 2.9 rating within the 18-49 demographic and an overall 9.28 million viewers.
Executive producer Manny Soto also revealed in a Reddit thread that there is no official plans, as of yet, to continue the series, "As of now, there are no plans to continue the show next year but we remain open to the possibility. We had a great time doing it this year and would love to take another crack at it," Soto said.
As of now, there is still no confirmation on whether FOX will produce another season or not.
