'24' Hit Series Returns to FOX this Summer Along with New Show from M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense)
The hit series '24' starring Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is making its return to FOX after a couple year absence.
"24" premiered in 2001 on FOX and aired through 2010. While being one of the most popular shows on tv, the premise of the show makes it hard to keep going season after season, so even fans of the show thought it was time for it to be over when it finally ended.
So how can they bring the show back and have it be fresh and exciting again?
Well the producers of "24" had contemplated bringing the canceled show back with a full length movie, but eventually decided that Fox's planned "event series" would be the best place for series to land.
The miniseries, "24: Live Another Day," will clock in at half its running length and the 12 episodes will be chronological but will skip some hours. "24" is planned to kick off sometime this summer.
Another announced miniseries is "Wayward Pines," from M. Night Shyamalan (writer/director of 'The Sixth Sense'). The series will be based on "Pines", the best selling novel. The show will star Matt Dillon in what Fox called a "mind-bending thriller" about the search for missing federal agents in an Idaho town.
FOX is working on shaking things up as their pride and joy "American Idol" has been in decline for years and has hit record lows this year. 'Idol' will be back for its 13th season next year but is rumored to have an all new judging panel to get back its younger fanbase.
"New Girls" is also reported to have landed the coveted post Super Bowl spot on FOX.
