2014 BMI Christian Music Awards: Chris Tomlin Wins Christian Song and Songwriter of the Year (FULL LIST OF WINNERS)

The 2014 BMI Christian Music Awards took place this week and the big winner of the night was worship artist Chris Tomlin.

Tomlin won "Christian Song of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year" for "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)" of his latest album Burning Lights. The song also reached No.1 on the Billboard Christian charts.

Another "Songwriter of the Year Award" went to Casting Crowns' Mark Hall for the song "Already There."
Other artists that took home the award were, TobyMac for "Steal My Show," Aaron Lindsey for "It's Not Over (When God Is in It)," Matt Maher for his hit single "Lord, I Need You," and Brandon Heath for "Jesus in Disguise."

"Award Winning Songs" were given out to "Almost Home" by Triumphant Quartet, "Already There" by Casting Crowns, "Awesome" by Pastor Charles Jenkins and Fellowship Chicago, "Battle Stand" by The Old Path, "Help Me Find It" by Sidewalk Prophets, "I'm Still Amazed" by Legacy 5, "It's Not Over (When God is in It)" by Israel Houghton & New Breed featuring James Fortune & Jason Nelson, "Jesus in Disguise" by Brandon Heath, "Jesus, Friend of Sinners" by Casting Crowns, "Kings & Queens" by Audio Adrenaline, "Life & Favor (You Don't Know My Story)" by John P. Kee, "Lord, I Need You" by Matt Maher, "My Testimony" by Marvin Sapp, "One Thing Remains" by Kristian Stanfill, "Steal My Show" by TobyMac, "Take Me to the King" by Tamela mann featuring Kirk Franklin, "The I of the Storm" by The Old Paths, "The Proof of Your Love" by for King & Country, " We Won't be Shaken" by Building 429, "White Flag" by Chris Tomlin, "Who You Are" by Unspoken, "Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)" by Chris Tomlin, "You Are" Colton Dixon, and "You Lead" by Jamie Grace.

Christian label powerhouse Capitol Christian Music Group took home "Christian Publisher of the Year."

Contemporary artist Danny Gokey shared his thoughts on performing at the event, "I'm excited to kind of be introduced into this world," he said, "I feel like I've been out of pocket for a couple of years, and now people are talking about the song ('Hope in Front of Me') and trying to figure out who I am as an artist."

Jon Guerra, an upcoming artist also performed on the night.

Jody Williams, Vice President of BMI Publisher Relations was a host at the event and was encouraged by the music. "I'm always amazed by the inspirational stories these songs provide to fans of Christian music and beyond," reported The Tennessean.
