2013 CMT Awards: Winners and Losers. Miranda Lambert and Newcomers Florida Georgia Line Win Big
The 2013 CMT Awards were the talk of the town this Wednesday in Nashville. It saw some new faces, some established artists, and a few great performances.
The big winners of the night were established country star Miranda Lambert and newcomers Florida Georgia Line. Lambert won best female video for her new single "Mama's Broken Heart" and won the award for CMT Performance of the Year for her powerful ballad "Over You."
Florida Georgia Line scored big with two awards of their own. They won two awards for "Cruise", for Duo Video and Breakthrough Video. The song came out this past summer and has been burning up the charts. The song shows no sign of slowing down, nor does the group.
There were a few great performances last night as well. Jason Aldean and Lenny Kravitz performed a duet of "American Woman." Even though it's a strange pairing, it proved to be effective. Also present were the big winners Florida Georgia Line and Nelly, performing the remix to "Cruise."
Darius Rucker, Taylor Swift, Little Big Town, Keith Urban, and Kacey Musgraves also performed on the evening. Despite a few logistical issues with the teleprompter and co-host Jason Aldean's overall general awkwardness, the evening went well.
What did you like about the awards? Do you feel like anyone got robbed?
