‘Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Adam Newman Role's Leading Candidates

The search for Adam Newman intensifies as Young and the Restless fans are already growing tired of the "hands" gimmick that Jill Farren Phelps uses to cover the role. Rumors suggest that Michael Muhney and Cameron Mathison might be in some kind of negotiations with Y&R productions.

In a spoiler published by Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the CBS daytime soap opera might have considered recasting Muhney for his Adam role, but sources say that the team has not yet concluded any of its options so far. Showrunner Phelps fired Muhney (Veronica Mars) following a harassment issue on the set.

Similarly, 44-year-old Cameron Mathison is likely given a choice to play the role, due to his known on-screen chemistry with Melissa Claire Egan. CDL also reported that the Canadian actor and television host was recently spotted on the Y&R set, possibly discussing the details of the role.

"The search for an actor to play Adam has intensified in the last few weeks, and insiders report that Michael Muhney could be back in the mix to reprise the role. The actor, whose controversial exit last December sent shock waves throughout the community, was reportedly spotted at the Y&R studios," reported Soap Opera Digest 9th edition.

In other news, a photo from Muhney published June 2 on Twitter is seen to allegedly mock Phelp's 'hand' idea as a response to Adam Newman's missing role. The photo, captioned with "Zoo day with the family," showed the actor's hands pushing a baby stroller.

Despite the controversy, many fans are eager to have Muhney back on the show.  Recent controversies reveal that Y&R has suffered significant drop in ratings after the actor was dismissed.

Young and the Restless airs every Monday night on CBS.
