Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 News: Device Spotted on Certification Site; Key Features Leaked

Mobile Dad, a technology blog, accidentally stumbled upon a device, believed to be the eagerly awaited Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, on the Chinese certification site, suggesting that its launch is imminent.

According to IB Times, earlier it was rumored that the Redmi Note 2 would be unveiled in January. However, this did not happen and instead the Chinese tech manufacturer launched a high-end MI Note as well as MI Note Pro series smartphone with big display screens.

The launch of the MI Note dampened the enthusiasm of gadget lovers expecting the Redmi Note 2 and, as a result, the speculations involving the feature-rich budget Xiaomi Redmi Note phablet successor remained silent until now.

However, recently, while leafing through Chinese government-owned Quality Certification Center website, Mobile Dad came across a nameless Xiaomi device with code-number - '2015501' passing 3C certificate with 4G-LTE connectivity.

At first, the blog site was unable to identify the handset name, but following inquiring its sources, it supposedly confirmed the device to be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2.

As far as the specs of the upcoming device are concerned, it has been reported that the purported Redmi Note 2 will retain the same 5.5-inch screen as in the first generation model. However, its resolution is expected to take a leap from HD (1280px720p) to full HD (1920x720p).

Inside the casing, the purported Redmi Note 2 is likely to pack 64-bit class Mediatek (MT6795) Helio X10 Octa-core SoC (System on Chip) powered by Android Lollipop (either v5.0.2 or v5.1with MIUI skin), house a 13-MP main camera on the rear-side, besides a 5-MP front-facing snapper. Along with the dominating full HD screen, it is expected that the Redmi Note 2 will be equipped with more than a 3,000mAh battery unit.

As of now, similar to other smartphone manufacturers, Xiaomi has also decided to keep mum and not respond to speculations. It is being rumored that the Redmi Note 2 may be launched sometime in July together with its premium 'Pro' series sibling.
