Xbox One Mini Rumors: Will Microsoft Launch a More Compact & Quiet Gaming Console in October?

Some time back, Microsoft proudly presented its exclusive game lineup and the Xbox One backwards compatibility feature, saying that its gaming console offers something that none other does. Now, it is rumored that the Redmond tech giant will come out with a new Xbox One Mini, which is notably smaller and has a relatively quieter profile.

Quoting a report in Attack of the Fan Boy, Latin Post states that the Xbox One Mini will not have a Blu-Ray player, but users will have to rely on digital downloads to get the video game in their gaming console. It is expected that the Xbox Mini will debut this October and its size will be about one-third of the original Xbox One console.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has been preparing for October, when the company is expected to launch a lineup of devices including the Surface Pro 4, Nokia Lumia and the Microsoft Band 2. Fans are hoping that Microsoft will also include the rumored Xbox One Mini in its October launch event. Although Microsoft is yet to make any official announcement regarding the rumored Xbox One Mini or its release date, fans are expecting that a "Mini" will certainly be released soon.

A report in TechnoBuffalo states there are more than a few reasons why an Xbox One Mini should be on the works. One among them is the neck-to-neck competition between Xbox and its main rival, Sony's PlayStation 4.

The tech website further states that as far as marketing is concerned, Xbox is lagging behind on the U.K. and North America markets. The dropping of Blu-Ray is very noteworthy, as games will all soon be in their DLC mode and discs will be outdated sooner or later.

However, the physical feature of the Xbox One, especially its size, has lately been a concern for gamers. While it can be safely said that Microsoft will finally release a slimmer and more practical body, Techno Buffalo is of the view that this may not be the appropriate time for the Xbox One Mini.

During the E3 2015 event, Xbox One recently displayed a new update in addition to a revamped controller. Therefore, releasing the Xbox One Mini at this stage would make the Xbox One updates useless.

Beyond that, Microsoft has yet to make an official announcement for an October press event, but the tech giant will have a Windows 10 event at the IFA conference in Berlin in September.
