Windows 10 Release Date News: Upcoming Microsoft OS to Support Smartphones & Tablets with Octa-Core Processors

Microsoft unveiled the Windows 10 OS for desktop and smartphones on Jan. 21 and it is expected that the test version of the operating system for phones will be introduced some time in February.

According to latest reports, Windows 10 will support the high-end octa-core processor, suggesting that the market may soon have Windows 10 smartphones and tablets with octa-core processor.

IB Times quotes a report in WM Power User revealing that the latest OS from Microsoft will not only support tablets and smartphones powered with octa-core processor, but also powerful graphics. While the Redmond-based tech titan has yet to make an official announcement in this regard, a leak from one Microsoft session for Game Developers Conference (GDC) says that tech enthusiasts will soon be able to access high-end gaming on multi-core mobile devices.

The GDC 2015 is scheduled for March 2 in San Francisco, California.

Meanwhile, Nokia Power User says that the UI of the upcoming Windows 10 Lumia smartphone will also support 3D interaction elements. Nevertheless, the tech titan has yet to disclose anything regarding its forthcoming flagship. Already, the Android OS supports devices powered by octa-core processors and it is expected that Windows 10 devices too will be able to do the same in near future.

Phone Arena claims that Microsoft was expected to roll out the Windows Phone 8.1 GDR 2 update and users should have received it by now. The latest update will enable the devices to support powerful processors as well as high-resolution displays. However, there are speculations that perhaps Microsoft has dropped this roll out now. It is expected that the latest features of Windows Phone 8.1 GDR2 update will arrive alongside the upcoming Windows 10 OS.

According to source, ever since Microsoft has acquired the mobile division of Nokia, it has not released a single high-end smartphone or tablet. All it did recently was launch some relatively inexpensive devices like Lumia 435, Lumia 532 and the Lumia 535. As of now there is no news or even rumor on whether Microsoft is working on any high-end Windows Phone powered by Windows 10.

According to Phone Arena, as Microsoft now plans to support premium devices running on Windows 10 OS, it is likely that the company is also planning a new high-end flagship device.
