'The Originals' Season 2 Release Date, Spoilers: New Characters to Appear When Show Returns October 2014

Julie Plec, Executive Producer for the television series 'The Originals', has warned that being a vampire in New Orleans will come at a price when Season 2 of the show premieres October 6 on CW.

Talking to Buddy TV, Plec said, "New Orleans has already been shaken to its core."

The first season of 'The Originals' had an intense finale with some shocking moments, including Hayley being transformed into a hybrid as well as the return of Rebekah. Moreover, fans saw the birth of Klaus and Hayley's baby. Nevertheless, Klaus was forced to stage her death following the birth of baby Hope with a view to protect the child. In fact, Klaus sent Hope off to live with his sister Rebekah, who left the show early in the season and made a surprise return at the end.

According to Plec, Season 2 will take a time jump of four months, starting from where the first season ended. She said, "The Vampires have been basically decimated and those that remain have been exiled out of the (French) Quarter," adding that they will also face death if they are found within the boundaries of the Quarter.

In the meantime, 'The Originals' family is confined in their compound and is feeling sad about losing Hope. According to co-producer Michael Nardicci, Hope will be hidden safely somewhere with Rebekah.

Elaborating further, Plec said that the witches and werewolves will form an alliance and capture the city. Meanwhile, Narducci said that as the werewolves currently possess the power to replicate the moonlight ring, they will form "a small army of stronger, faster, more dangerous werewolves in an alliance with the witches."

Plec also reveled that some new characters will be introduced in 'The Originals' Season 2, counting Caleb (Daniel Sharman), who plays Davina's new love interest. She further stated that Sharman will play the "delightfully obnoxious, charming and wildly handsome Caleb" who "takes a liking to Davina and who has a few secrets of his own."
