'The Hobbit 3' Movie Release Date & Latest News: Dark and Horrific Trilogy Closer Premieres Dec. 17, 2014

Speculation surrounding the movie has been backed by details that were revealed in the first trailer which shows the Orc and Elven armies gathering on the field of battle.

The Five Armies in the 3rd installment of 'The Hobbit' trilogy are comprised of the Humans, the Eagles, the Goblins, the Elves and the Dwarves.

While there are some fans who are absolutely ecstatic about the arrival of 'The Hobbit 3', but there are others who have expressed their disappointment over the fact that 'The Hobbit' films have not been able to match up to the books written by Tolkien.

The movie is set in a time period that precedes that of the 'Lord of the Rings' by sixty years. The final version of 'The Hobbit' shows how Sauron, the dark lord and enemy of Middle-Earth eventually gains the power that he needs to dominate the fictional world and wreak havoc in it.
