'Tekken X Street Fighter' News: Game Director Katsuhiro Harada Talks Upcoming Crossover Game

The highly anticipated "Tekken X Street Fighter" game has somehow been out of recent discussions lately. However, some fans are speculating about its production seeing as it hasn't yet received a release date.

In a recent interview with Polygon, the game director, Katsuhiro Harada was confronted on the issue.

"It's very difficult to talk about," he said, "Obviously, I had originally planned to release it much earlier than we're currently looking at."

He went on to confirm that there was a team of 40 was currently working on the game.

"He says Bandai Namco delayed the game because other fighting games had saturated the market, not because of development trouble, and that it specifically wanted to put some breathing room between the game and Street Fighter X Tekken to avoid player confusion. He says the game is still in development with around 40 people currently working on it (though some of those split their time with Tekken 7), but he also says that Tekken 7 will be our big thing for the next while," writes Polygon.

In all fairness, Harada does have a lot on his plate. As Namco's general manager his main course of work would need to revolve around the release of "Tekken 7." He's also said to working on another six projects at this time.

He couldn't give the game a release date within the next two years, but he does say he is planning on adding a surprise element to it's release.

"People have been talking about the game for such a long time that they aren't going to be surprised if you just release it normally," Harada says.

"I don't know if that's what we have planned, but we do plan to have some kind of surprise."
