'Super Mario Run' Release Date News Update: Game To Arrive With Nintendo Switch, Top ‘Pokemon GO?’

Along with Nintendo's upcoming "Super Mario Run," overrunning "Pokemon GO," new details on the game's release date have surfaced.

According to NeoGAF user Rosti, the studio's side-scrolling auto-runner platformer video game might come out with the Nintendo Switch. On Nov. 3, the forum member wrote that on Sept. 5, Nintendo Co. Ltd had filed in Japan via J-PlatPat/INPIT a trademark application for its smartphone game, adding that the Class, Goods and Services mentioned smartphones and some home videogame machines, among others.

Rosti also wrote a disclaimer, saying that "Super Mario Run" is confirmed to come to a Nintendo console, which was the Nintendo Switch, but it likely a basic practice that encompasses pertinent goods and services.

"But if they want Super Mario Run on Nintendo Switch, they at least have some of the paperwork done (for Japan anyway)," Rosti wrote. For the forum member, the United States and Europe had yet to see any trademark application linked to the game.

As a "Mario" game, "Super Mario Run" is seen as a threat to Niantic's "Pokemon GO." According to Game N Guide, the forthcoming arrival of the game might see "Pokemon Go" go down the ranks, with game experts seeing that the GPS-based game will become an "irrelevant" game in few years time. As per the publication, while the game managed to top "Clash of Clans" after its release, the latter managed to dethrone the former and keep the top spot once more.

Published by Nintendo, "Super Mario Run" is set to be released for Android and iOS in December.
