'Star Wars Rebels' Season 3 News, Spoilers: Grand Admiral Thrawn of 'Thrawn Trilogy' Going To Appear In Second Season?

After "Star Wars" season 2 left fans hanging on the edge, there is just so much too look forward to in the next season. And the good news is that fans no longer have to wait for so long.

The finale of season 2 saw how the characters were whitewashed by the dark forces. Ahsoka vanished, Kanan lost his sight, Ezra was lured to join the dark side, and Anakin was transmogrified into Darth Vader.

Although creators of the series have not yet announced the premiere date of the renewed series, fans speculate that season 3 will come back to Disney XD this fall and that it will be filled with "adventure, hope and the battle between good and evil."

Titled "Star Wars Rebels," season 3 will feature a much heavier story arc than the previous season but will still include the elements that fans have come to love the series for.

"The show continues to tell fun, heartfelt, exciting new 'Star Wars' stories week after week and it's beloved by fans of all ages. Season 3 will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire," said Kiri Hart of Lucasfilm.

The new installment will introduce new characters, including Grand Admiral Thrawn from the "Thrawn Trilogy." His character, rumored to appear as an Imperial officer, is dubbed as the largest cameo role in the history of the series.

As for the fate of Ahsoka, executive producer Dave Filoni said: "I would just say that there are probably--and I'll give you this as we go back a ways--there are probably more stories to tell with Ahsoka Tano but I would not believe that that would happen necessarily on 'Star Wars Rebels.'"
