A recent report on a Russian website quoted a Japanese carrier document saying that Sony may possibly launch the Xperia Z4 Compact handset next week, most possibly on May 13.

Tech Radar reports that the leak on the Russian website reveals that Sony Xperia Z4 will be launched next Wednesday, May 13 - only a few days away. According to the report, as far as the hardware of the device is concerned, it is quite natural that the Xperia Z4 Compact would be identical to the Xperia Z4, but the upcoming device will come with a relatively smaller body.

If further states that like the Xperia Z3 Compact was to the Xperia Z3, it is likely that the Xperia Z4 Compact will be a better option for the Sony fans when compared to the full-sized Xperia Z4, particularly considering the fact that the new device will be affordable.

Since Sony is yet to make an official announcement regarding the launch of Xperia Z4 Compact, as of now, the report in the Russian website remains a rumor. However, with only the size being different on the mini devices launched by Sony, it is expected that most of the other hardware specs will be same as the Xperia Z4.

So far, the Sony Xperia Z4 has seen a limited release in Japan. But it is expected that the company will sell the Xperia Z4 Compact in the global markets. Similar to the HTC One M9, even the Z4 has failed to impress the experts and tech enthusiasts mainly owing to its lack of innovation.

Now it will be interesting to see whether or not the Xperia Z4 Compact can turn things around for Sony, which is currently struggling to thrive in the mobile industry.
