'Scandal' Season 4 New Cast News, Spoilers: Lauren Bowles Tapped to Play Mellie’s Half Sister

ABC's hit show, Scandal, will soon be introducing the half sister of first lady, Mellie Grant, played by Bellamy Young. The character will be played by Lauren Bowles, of the series True Blood, and will be called Harmony.

The character appeared in the episode which was set to air on April 2nd, and at the current time she is only scheduled for one episode, which makes it unclear whether she will star in later episodes.

In the episode, Elizabeth, played by Portia de Rossi, is worried that Mellie's sister can ruin the pair's political plans by exposing sensitive information from Mellie's past.

Harmony arrives just as President Grant, portrayed by Tony Goldwyn, and has been looking at a new Vice President who will not run against Mellie. Also, the first lady is furious with Elizabeth (her campaign manager), because she wants to bring her half-sister to Washington.

Actress Bellamy Young says that viewers should expect a bloodbath. There will be some flies in the ointment in terms of Mellie's plans for running for office.

This episode is the third time that Lauren Bowles has been cast as a guest star by Producer Shonda Rhimes. The actress has also appeared as a guest star on Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice.

Mellie plans to run for president and is taking her first steps in that direction by running for a seat in the Virginia senate.
