'Orange is the New Black' Season 3 Air Date, Cast News: Samira Wiley, Yael Stone, Dascha Polanco, & More Join Cast

There is another reason why some people are looking forward to summer besides the warm weather, and that's 'Orange is the New Black'. While Netflix has not released an exact date for the season three premiere of 'Orange is the New Black', fans can expect to watch the show in June or July.

Moving into its third season, the show, which airs on Netflix, is a drama-comedy that chronicles the lives of a group of women serving jail sentences in the Litchfield Federal Correctional Institute. The focus is on Piper, who is serving eighteen months in jail for distributing drug money.

For the new season, fans will have to welcome a new jailbird to the show, Stella Carmin, who is rumored to add a certain spiciness. She will be played by Australian model Ruby Rose, and is set to be the apple of characters Piper and Alex's eyes. With her sultry appearance and sarcasm, Stella is sure to become a friend (or a foe) to some of the inmates.

On the subject of character roles, the third season of 'Orange is the New Black' will see the return of actors Samira Wiley, Yael Stone, Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva, Adrienne C. Moore, and Nick Sandow, whose characters will be bumped up to regular-appearance status.

The crime-based series is up for several Golden Globe Awards, such as Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy (Taylor Schilling.) The show has another nomination for Best Comedy. 'Orange is the New Black' is in the race with another series shown exclusively online: Amazon's 'Transparent'. The Golden Globe Awards show airs on NBC at 8 pm on Sunday, January 11th.
