'Minecraft' PS4, Xbox One Release Date: Price Difference, New DLC Content

Fans of the sandbox indie game 'Minecraft' can now enjoy playing it on the PS4 and Xbox One. The digital version of 'Minecraft' for the PS4 was first released on August 14 while the digital version of 'Minecraft' for Xbox One was made available on August 15.

On that note, the disc versions of the games have different release dates than the digital copies. The retailer copy of 'Minecraft: PS4' released October 3, while the Xbox One Edition is looking at a November 18 launch.

There is a slight price difference in the disc copies of the game as well, depending on the console. For PS4 the game can be purchased for $18.99, while the Xbox One version will be $19.99.

Gamers were excited to learn that the Xbox One Edition of the game is allegedly 36 times larger compared to the Xbox 360 game.

Meanwhile, Xbox 360 Gamers can choose to upgrade their game for $4.99 ($3.99 for PS3 owners) or transfer most of their downloadable content their next-gen console.

Minecraft's creator, 4J studios also upgraded several features including multi-player capabilities.
Four players can enjoy building their own worlds in split-screen on the Xbox One.

Aside from that, up to eight players can reportedly share the Minecraft experience on Xbox Live.

Minecraft is the brainchild of Swedish developers led by Markus "Notch" Persson.

It is a sandbox indie game that lets the gamers create their own world, where gamers can gather materials from the computer-generated world and afterwards, they can place blocks on top of one another, creating buildings, animals and even people, anything they can imagine-- it's a lot like a digital version of LEGO blocks.

Meanwhile, 'Minecraft' gamers can reportedly expect new patches for the PS4 and Xbox digital versions of the game to fix existing bugs and also add several exciting features and enhancements.

The new downloadble content includes animals like horses and donkeys and the addition of status effects like temporary health boosts, according to an announcement by game developer 4J Studios on Thursday, Oct. 2.
