Mary J. Blige Lands The Cover of "Shape Magazine" Talks Alcohol Addiction and Whitney Houston

R&B legend Mary J. Blige graced the cover of Shape Magazine for its December issue and looked great doing it!

As we all know, Mary J. Blige has a deep history with overcoming her addiction to drugs and alcohol. In the write-up Mary opened up about a series of things one in particular was her battle with alcohol and drugs and the role Whitney Houston's death played in her drive to sobriety.

"Whitney Houston's death really crushed me," she said. "I saw someone so incredibly talented just diminish, and I refuse to go out like that."

Mary went on to reveal that since giving up alcohol once and for all she feels like a completely different and stronger person.

"Others may be able to drink and have a great time, but it doesn't work for me at this point," she added. "I haven't had a drink in a year and three months. I had quit for a long time but started again about five years ago. I'm off it completely once more, and now I feel stronger than ever."

The December issue of Shape Magazine will hit newsstands November 25. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
