MacBook Air 2015 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Apple Likely to Launch Slimmer, Lighter, Fan-less Device

Although rumors regarding the new 12-inch MacBook Air have been circulating on the Internet for quite sometime now, new speculation states that Apple will be launching the device sometime this year.

VentureBeat says that the Cupertino-hardhearted tech titan may possibly launch a new 12-inch Macbook Air during mid-2015, sometime around Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference.

Earlier, Apple has used the WWDC show to announce, tease, as well as introduce various products. Therefore, it would be very natural for the company to either launch or debut a new MacBook Air during this year's WWDC event.

In addition, it is expected that the upcoming MacBook Air will incorporate some changes in design, together with an edge-to-edge keyboard, relatively slimmer keys, less number of ports, and also some changes in the positioning of the speaker.

According to some reports, the device may also incorporate the upcoming USB Type-C connectors that are remarkably faster compared to USB 3.0 ports - something common in the existing computers. In addition to presenting super-fast data transfer rates, USB Type-C ports and cables possessing the aptitude to deliver power as well as video output. Hence, even having a single port, USB Type-C is able to perform three tasks - power supply, receiving/sending data and video transmission. At least this is what has been promised on paper.

Moreover, compared to the existing USB ports, USB Type-C connectors are relatively slimmer and this will enable Apple as well as other computer manufacturers to produce even slimmer devices.

Apart from the refurbished design, the new Air may also come with a fan-less design. In fact, the latest fifth-generation Core M processors of Intel are fan-less chips, which help computer manufacturers to do away with fans or other components that are used to cool the device.

All said and done, Apple has yet to make an official announcement regarding the launch date and price of the new MacBook Air.
