'Life Is a Gift' - Duck Dynasty's Jase and Missy Robertson on Miscarriage and Daughter Mia's Cleft Lip: 'I Just Wanted Her to Live'

"Duck Dynasty" stars Jase and Missy Robertson have spoken in a recent interview about how they had to deal with a heart-wrenching miscarriage before God delivered them a miracle.

"I was about eight to 10 weeks along when I miscarried, just enough time to be excited about it and start telling everyone," said Missy to Closer Weekly.

The couple had previously given birth to their two kids, Reed and Cole, without any birth complications prior to the miscarriage that occurred 12 years ago.

"I'd heard of tubal pregnancies for years, but didn't really understand the mental anguish of actually having to go in and have someone remove what could've been your child. It was extremely difficult, and there was a lot of pain and bleeding," said Missy, describing her tragic ectopic third pregnancy.

She also described her thought process about starting a family after the tragedy.

"I was only 30 when that happened and I thought, 'Wait a minute, does this mean it's over for me?'" said Missy in the recent interview.

After they prayed to God for a miracle, three months after the heartbreaking ordeal they realized that Missy was pregnant again with Mia.

"When Mia came out, I looked at her and thought, 'This is going to be rough,'" said Jase to Closer Weekly about their daughter being born with a cleft lip.

She also realized she might have other issues including not being able to breathe on her own, and that put things into perspective: "I thought, why am I so upset about what she's going to look like? I just wanted her to live."

Mia Robertson is now 10-years-old and just underwent a tough bone-graft operation four months ago, and has had five procedures so far in her young life.

"Life's a gift," said Jase to Closer Weekly. "As long as we're living, we can get through anything."
