'Kingdom Hearts 3': Star Wars and Marvel joining KH3? New Characters?

'Kingdom Hearts 3' Director Tetsuya Nomura, who recently left 'Final Fantasy XV', to concentrate on the aforementioned game, said that he is working to incorporate many new characters into the story. The title is set to launch in May next year for Xbox One and PS4.

Since Disney has acquired Marvel and 'Star Wars', hype among fan is high to see their favorite characters in the 'Kingdom Heart' franchise, but Nomura had admitted that despite of their efforts, it is a hard path as "there are lots of rules and restrictions by Disney so we can't actually put in everything people want."

Instead, Nomura is planning for epic battles and a grand conclusion to make the game better than ever.

"In Kingdom Hearts 3 as well, I am scheming many challenges that Sora and his friends must overcome, because I myself cannot lose either," Nomura said, "and in preparation for the great battle that lies ahead, we have this one book that looks back on their entire journey."

Nomura has stated few months ago that current story arc will end with the upcoming game, but the series will continue beyond. He added that first three games are not strictly a trilogy but 'Kingdom Hearts 3' will serve to tie up loose elements of original game.

Also, it seems that game development has been switched to Epic Games' Unreal Engine. Nomura has shed light on it as well, "Development is steadily proceeding as planned. Due to the impact of changing the game engine to Unreal Engine 4, which we did for various reasons, there is some difficulty rendering images. And with the full support of Epic Games, we'll be able to progress smoothly."

Why they removed their house engine has not been explained, but the performance of Unreal Engine 4 is hailed for its excellence among critiques.
