'How To Train Your Dragon 3' Release Date, Spoilers: Film Launches 2017 Without Dragons?

Director Dean DeBlois has just revealed that he submitted the plot and storyline for 'How to Train Your Dragon 3' to Dream Works. As it stands, the trilogy is set to be released on June 9, 2017.

"I think from the moment that they agreed to my pitch that the second film should be the middle act of a trilogy then we always knew that there would be a third film. In fact, I've been pitching an in-progress outline of the third film for the last two and a half years," DeBlois said.

Although, the Viking Hiccup will be featured in the third film without dragons, DeBlois promised that the story will still be exciting.

"Just by concept there's something really compelling and emotionally powerful to the idea that this trilogy will complete with the dragons somehow going away, why they went away, and what the mystery is that surrounds that," the director said.

Spoilers revealed that in 'How to Train Your Dragon 3', Hiccup will be an old man. Stepping into the books, the first line of the third one reads, "There were Dragons when I was a boy."

By this time, Hiccup reminisces his adventures with the dragons when he was young. The dragons have reportedly died or disappeared in the sequel.

The dragons may have been killed by evil creatures or they may have migrated to a faraway place. Fans of the books written by Cressida Crowell, on which the films are based, may already have an idea about the dragons' disappearance.

For those that don't know, 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' was a success as it earned $600 million at the box office.

Jay Baruchel plays as Hiccup Haddock III, Gerald Butler portrays Stoic the Vast, and Cate Blanchett voices Blanka. However, there is no confirmation yet if the stars will voice the characters again, but according to reports several actors will reprise their roles.
