'House of Cards' Season 4 Spoilers: Will a Key Character be Killed Off in New Season?

'House of Cards' fans are concerned regarding the fate of Dough Stamper (portrayed by Michael Kelly) in the upcoming Season 4, as this Netflix political television drama series has a reputation for killing off its key characters. The concern is more because Kelly recently said that he is not sure if the writers would allow Dough to continue for long.

Quoting Inquisitr, IB Times reports that talking about showrunner Beau Willimon, Kelly recently said, "I was alive at the end of three, that's all I can say. I wouldn't be surprised if Beau was behind my bedroom door right now. I put nothing past him."

In the previous three seasons of 'House of Cards,' viewers have seen Kelly's character facing many ups and downs. In the second season, they saw him almost dead when Rachel not only knocked him on the head with a rock, but also left him to die. However, Doug was fortunate to survive the attack, and in Season 3 he takes his revenge by burying Rachel alive.

Talking to Deadline, Kelly said that while the showrunner promised him that his character Dough would survive in Season 3, he was himself not so sure. The actor said, "It's House of Cards, right? They do not hesitate to kill great characters."

'House of Cards' Season 4 was renewed for a fourth season in April and the show has already added a number of new cast members. A recent report claimed that Neve Campbell has joined the cast for a recurring role. However, the network is yet to offer a description of the character.

It is expected that the upcoming season of the American political drama will also focus on the consequences of Claire walking out on Frank.

Meanwhile, show creator Willimon told The Hollywood Reporter, "A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back."

He went on to add, "We also realized we'd laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain."

'House of Cards' Season 4 is expected to premiere in early 2016.
