Hillsong Young & Free's Taya Talks Sold Out 2014 Misfits Conference in NYC, 'What God is Doing in Here is Just Crazy' (INTERVIEW)

Teens and Young adults took over lower Manhattan, New York City over the weekend for Misfits Conference 2014 and BreatheCast caught up with Conference performer Taya from Hillsong Young & Free before she hit the stage to discuss the move of God happening throughout the eccentric city.

1400 plus passionate people from all over New York, filled The Salvation Army Theater in the West Village. Christ Tabernacle Pastor, Chris Durso and his wife Yahris, led Misfit NYC and the weekend long event with the theme for this year's conference being "The world is listening."

Lead singer of Hillsong Young & Free, a very poised and humble Australian native, expressed how grateful she was to be a part of such a monumental movement.

She explained that although New York City is not the likeliest place for a move like this to happen, she sees a shift-taking place. "I think it's God doing his thing amongst his people," she stated.

"I was talking to Yahris Durso and she was saying, 'it's so crazy cause I grew up in New York... but what God is doing in here is just crazy.'" Taya went on to say, "I love that for a lot of people who grew up here it's not a normal thing."

"For the fact that this is happening, I think it's just a product of people loving Jesus and God giving people vision in the hearts and putting things in the hands, so they can actually go and do it," she added.

The theater was sold out for the event and every seat was filled, Taya was perhaps most touched by the fact that so many teens were given the opportunity to be there through sponsorships. "A lot of these kids had to get sponsored, for people to even come and pay $100, for these kids it means everything."

She noted, "It's so awesome cause I know God can do so many things through this and through these kids and it's the heart of New York City so it's the best."

She concluded by saying, "We're honestly honored to be here."

Hillsong Young & Free performed the second night of the conference and the timid Taya transformed into a head banging and fearless performer as the theater roared with worship as the group performed their hit song "Oceans," along with others. The stage decorated with blow up doughnuts and a huge stuffed dolled minion, trembled as Hillsong Young & Free jumped up and down for Jesus.
