Gwen Stefani News: Songstress Returns as 'The Voice' Coach in Season 9 While Christina Aguilera Takes a Break [VIDEO]

Gwen Stefani will be returning as a coach of 'The Voice,' as Christina Aguilera has officially announced that she will be sitting out the upcoming Season 9 of the popular reality singing competition on NBC. In a press release, the 45-year-old singer/ song writer announced, "I'm coming back and am so excited! I can't believe I get to return to The Voice."

According to a report in Kdramastars, Stefani returns to the show as the original coach Christina Aguilera has decided to take a break. The "Hollaback Girl" singer, who made her debut on the show in 2014 fall, will now be joining fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine. The Entertainment Weekly reports that Carson Daly will return as the host of the show.

In her press release, Stefani further stated, "It's so inspiring to be around such incredible talent and music. I'm looking forward to working again with Adam, Blake and Pharrell. I love those guys."

Meanwhile, NBC has confirmed that Christina Aguilera will be officially sitting out Season 9. The network also said that there won't be any newbies in the mix for 'The Voice' Season 9.

Talking to Us Weekly, host Carson Daly said that he understands that the roster would be somewhat different this fall. He explained, "These guys tour," adding, "They're not TV people - they're musicians first. We knew that they have to tour around the world and so, unlike other shows, we've always known that we're going to have the revolving chairs. When we can get Usher and Gwen in the mix with these guys, it's been great."

However, Aguilera's departure doesn't mean that she is quitting the reality show for good. Us Weekly claimed that a source told them, "Christina is confirmed for Season 10 and has already signed her contract. She has been very vocal about not doing Season 9 to take a break to spend time with her family and her kids."

"She always planned to flip them so she had a season off and she is not being replaced by Gwen. She will definitely be back the next season," the source added.
