GoPro Hero 5 Release Date: Action Camera Launch Postponed Due To Karma Drone, Arriving In October?

GoPro Hero 5 is set to launch soon; however, it has been announced that there would be delayed due to Karma.

According to Christian Today, the release GoPro Hero 5 might be postponed to the final quarter of 2016, particularly in October. The prime reason behind the delay of the next-generation action camera is the release of the GoPro drone, Karma, which is set to be launched in the second half of the year, as per BidNess ETC.

GoPro founder Nick Woodman has also given his stand with regard to the shift in the release timeline of the upcoming action camera. In his interview with Engadget, Woodman said that they made everything backwards compatible, adding that their goal was to make the GoPro work with anything new they made and vice versa.

In line with Woodman's statement, it is assumed that the company is securing the future of its future product line, in terms of compatibility with the company's previous and existing products. Also, the change in the device's release date would allow its developers to test and modify its specs, as well as add features towards its uniqueness, among its competitors, according to Crossmap.

The GoPro Karma was initially confirmed in December 2015 and Woodman unveiled information on the upcoming device during the CES 2016 event, which was held in January.

With regard the GoPro Hero 5's specifications, previous reports revealed that the camera is set to have the Ambarella H1 System in Chip or SoC, which would allow it to capture moments with its 4K filming at 60 frames per second. This suggests a faster speed than its predecessor, the GoPro Hero 4 Black, despite sharing the same resolution.

Another feature of the upcoming GoPro Hero 5 is an enhanced 2.7K performance, in addition to a 1080p video capture, which can be set in slow motion. The product is also assumed to remain waterproof for a depth of up to 60 meters.

Overall, exact details on the final specs and release date of GoPro Hero 5 are yet to be unveiled.
