'Game of Thrones' Author George R.R Martin Slams Plot Theories and 'Winds of Winter' Release Date Rumors

'A Song of Ice and Fire' has seen more fan theories than probably any other book series in recent years, and George R.R. Martin was quick to debunk yet another fan theory on his latest book in the series, 'Winds of Winter'.

There are many speculations about the fate of lead characters in the book. The author, who is known, infamously, for killing characters ruthlessly and for some merciless twists in the book, has left the audience asking for more on many occasions. Many, now eagerly wait for the release of the latest book in the series, especially after the series of tweets that he posted during Christmas.

Martin has dismissed all rumors on the release of the book anytime soon this year. When asked about it, he said, "There won't be any clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings, the announcement will be straightforward and to the point. I won't time it to coincide with Xmas or Valentine's Day or Lincoln's Birthday, the book will not rise from the dead with Jesus on Easter Sunday. When it is done, I will say that's it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish," according to The Ecumenical News.

In other news, he debunked a fan theory based on Benjen Stark. The fan, who was a Reddit user requested to read the entire manuscript of the book 'A Dance With the Dragons' and came to a conclusion that Coldhands could be resurrected as a Stark in the next book, according to iDigital Times.

Beyond that, the speculations about Jon Snow's role haven't died down yet, especially after Martin mentioned that Jon Snow was only a Lord Commander of the Night's Watch for a very brief period.
