Criminal Minds Season 9 ended with the departure of Dr. Alex Blake, one of BAU's profilers. 

Spencer Reid survived the crossfire together with Derek Morgan, but producer Erica Messner still has the aftermath of a number of cliffhangers to deal with next season.

Criminal Minds Season 9 lived up to its reputation of shocking revelations, dramatic endings, and promises more surprises for next season.

In Episode 24 Demons, Reid survived the operation against a group of criminals killing prostitutes but is still facing inevitable harm that will change the course of the show come Season 10. 

Executive Producer Messner told TV Guide, "No one is safe.  This [episode] has that urgency to it and that you can really trust no one, and you feel that... There's a bigger conspiracy at play and they don't know what that is at first. There's a big cover-up. There's a constant threat to our team because what they will uncover is a pretty big deal and their lives are in serious jeopardy."

When asked about what are the plans for Season 10, Messner opened up that the production is taking a break considering their short notice of its renewal from CBS. 

"These last two episodes took a lot out of everyone. It's a lot of work, but the payoff is great. But everybody needed to enjoy their break this year because last year, we couldn't enjoy it as much since we didn't [get the early renewal], so everybody was afraid to go on vacation and afraid to do anything," she said in an interview with TV Guide.
