Criminal Minds Season 10 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Stars Negotiate Contracts, Premiere Date Likely September 2014

CBS recently announced that the long-running police-procedural television drama "Criminal Minds" has been renewed for Season 10. As has become the norm for the series, it is expected that the new season will premiere in September, with the finale scheduled for some time in May. Some rumors have already indicated that Season 10 will have premiere date between Sept. 20 and 26.

As far as the cast of the new series is concerned, a report in Deadline has confirmed that the contracts of actors Thomas Gibson, who plays Aaron Hotchner, and Joe Mantegna, who portrays the character of David Ross in "Criminal Minds," will expire this spring, but it is likely that they will sign new deals.

On the other hand, Shemar Moore (Morgan) is said to be having some money-related problems with the studio. Similarly, it has been rumored that actresses Kristen Vangsness, who plays Garcia, and A. J. Cook, who portrays the character of JJ, have declined the latest offers made by the studio.

TV Fanatic quotes an insider saying that the two actresses are currently engaged in negotiating their respective contracts. The network has previously come under fire, with some criticizing the way it had treated female members of the cast.

Back in 2010 there was significant controversy when Vangsness was left as the only remaining full-time actress on "Criminal Minds". Producers cut Cook and reduced the episodes of Paget Brewster at that time, but following a fan backlash Cook and Brewster were subsequently reinstated.
