'Attack On Titan' Season 2 Release Date Rumors: Production of New Anime Series Underway [VIDEO]

Last year, director Tetsuro Araki confirmed that 'Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow' will be getting a second season, but did not specify the precise release date of the television anime. Nevertheless, fans of the show are speculating that 'Attack on Titan' ('Shingeki no Kyojin' in Japanese) Season 2, will be aired from April to September in 2016.

According to Latin Post, speaking at the opening day celebrations of November event 'Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow,' Araki further announced that the second part of the anime compilation film titled 'Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom' is due for release in Japan on June 27, 2015.

Currently fans have been watching the 'Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi' prequel anime, which was released in December alongside the popular manga's Volume 15. The plot of this anime involves incidents prior to Eren and Mikasa join Levi's Survey Crops journey, and the manner in which Levi and Erwin met. Now, fans can avail the two original animation DVDs which come with the 15th and 16th volumes of the central manga, the first of which released on Dec. 9, last year, while the next one is scheduled for release on April 9.

Last October, there were reports that the production of 'Attack on Titan' Season 2 had commenced. Earlier reports claimed that the Season 2 premiere will be aired on July 26. However, Wit Studios issued a statement saying that the release of Season 2 has been delayed with a view to allow the compiling of the 'Attack on Titan' manga series' Volume 14 and Volume 15.

It is worth mentioning here that the 'Attack on Titan' series was first serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shonen Magazine on Sept. 9, 2009 and a total of 15 volumes have been released till Dec. 9, 2014. The story of the anime is set in a functional city called Shinganshina, which is surrounded by enormous walls that serve as a defense against Titans - gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans.

The main characters of the anime include Eren Yeager, his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Tetsuro Araki
