‘Attack on Titan' Season 2 Release Date News, Rumors: Delay Means Anime Won't Return Until 2016?

New reports are claiming that the highly-anticipated second season of 'Attack on Titan' will not arrive in 2015, but probably in 2016.

This is what Latintimes and iDigitalTimes both stated in their articles on the subject. In early October there had been rumors that the production of 'Attack on Titan' Season 2 was already in progress, but those were only rumors.

However, the release date was finally announced during the premiere of the first 'Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow' compilation movie. The release is reportedly planned for 2016, which is taken directly from Y?ki Kaji (Eren), Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa), Marina Inoue (Armin), and director Tetsuro Araki.

The 'Attack on Titan' production team has also announced that the second compilation 'Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom' movie is slated to arrive in theaters on June 27, 2015.

Other Titan movies in the pipeline are 'Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi' which would finally arrive in December next year. Two more live-action 'Attack On Titan' movies will also hit theaters starting next year as well. But, the long-awaited return of the main 'Attack on Titan' anime would not be available in 2015.

According to iDigitalTimes there could be delays for the Japanese production 'Attack on Titan' Season 2 to premiere outside Japan because there would be a certain amount of work related to dubbing involved. Incidentally, it took over a year for the first season to be dubbed and make its debut on Cartoon Network thanks to Funimation.

Of course, one can only hope that the production time for the dubbed version would not take so long since some experience has already been gained.

For those not in the know, 'Attack on Titan' is a Japanese sci-fi anime based off of a manga. The story revolves around Eren Jaegar whose hometown is destroyed by Titans and his mother is killed. Young Eren takes a vow to eliminate the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.
