Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Spoilers: Actor Clark Gregg Dishes on Upcoming Season

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 wrapped up with some surprising twists. Since the show ended its first season earlier this year, fans have been eagerly awaiting the show's return and hoping to learn more information about the next installment.

ABC's version of the Marvel adventure ended with Nick Fury resigning from his post as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director and handing over the reigns to Gregg's character Phil Coulson. Fans know that when they last saw it, S.H.I.E.L.D. was in ruins and Phil Coulson and his agents will have to rebuild it.

Recently, the show's leading man Clark Gregg offered a few tidbits about the show's upcoming season.

The actor revealed that Phil Coulson will emerge as "a very different Coulson than the guy everyone knew." Gregg elaborated on his character's role in the second installment and said, "Phil Coulson is reinventing and re-understanding himself as a person. This is an important process so that he can adapt to the new environment and figure out what S.H.I.E.L.D. ought to be."

When asked about the show's storyline, the actor says "we go from having no SHIELD at all, with a director on the run, to a tiny guerilla SHIELD with Agent Coulson at its head, and maybe not in his own right head."

Season 2 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected to return with 22 episodes, split into two parts. Besides Clark Gregg, the show is speculated to bring back several original characters from the first series and introduce some new characters as well.
