Tonight's ace starter Masahiro Tanaka (1-0) looks to get the Bronx Bombers the victory when they face the Cubs tonight in the Bronx.

"I pride myself on not giving in after giving up runs," said Tanaka via his interpreter to reporters. "From the time when I was in Japan, I would always think that if I gave up a run, I would think to myself that I'm not going to give up any more runs. That's what I would always try to remind myself."

The Cubs were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals by the final score of 6-4 on Sunday. The Cubs starter Edwin Jackson suffered the loss for Chicago two days ago. The Cubs are hoping their starter Jason Hammel (2-0) will out duel Yankees rookie starter Masahiro Tanaka when the two men oppose each other tonight.

"They're a perennial powerhouse and find a way to win, and the organization is committed to their players. That's how they do it," said Hammel to reporters. "That being said, there's still a way to beat them. I've faced them many times and had some success. You just have to keep the ball down there."
