Drawing on the expectations of his fans, author George R.R. Martin has issued a blog post slamming rumors that the sixth volume of his chart-topping 'A Song of Ice and Fire' novel titled 'Winds of Winter' will be published in 2015. The author's countdown in his Twitter account in December 2014 had given rise to rumors that the book will be released sometime this year.

I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are. I am still working on WINDS. When it's done, I will announce it here."

In fact, Martin has also offered an explanation regarding the supposed countdown saying that it was simply his "Westorosi" take on the Christmas countdown. According to the author, his publisher had simply asked him to give a new twist to the characteristic 12 Days of Christmas countdown and just agreed to he consented.

The website quotes the author firmly stating, "There won't be any clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings, the announcement will be straightforward and to the point. I won't time it to coincide with Xmas or Valentine's Day or Lincoln's Birthday. ... When it is done, I will say that's it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish."

For the uninitiated, 'The Winds of Winter' is the sixth novel in Martin's best selling series titled 'A Song of Ice and Fire'. While the first five books in the series are titled 'A Game of Thrones', 'A Clash of Kings', 'A Storm of Swords', 'A Feast for Crows', and 'A Dance with Dragons', the seventh book will be the last of the series and will come with the title 'A Dream of Spring'.
