Winds of Winter Release Date Latest: George RR Martin of ‘Game of Thrones’ Delays Season 5 to Focus on Book

It's only been few months since the Season 4 finale of the popular HBO series, 'Game of Thrones', and fans are already eager and asking questions about next year's season.

According to recent reports, a 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 will air sometime in April of 2015, but as of yet that has not been officially confirmed. Surely HBO would not decide to chop down a popular and highly rated drama series in its prime. While the official release date is still up in the air, spoilers about the upcoming Season 5 have already been leaked.

Recently, 'Game of Thrones' novelist and creator George R.R Martin, will not be working on the Season 5 adaptation of his story. Instead, it is reported that the author will take the time to focus on the completion of his upcoming novel, 'The Winds of Winter'. The novel is tied into the same story that fans of the TV series have enjoyed, but it's just further progressed in the storyline.

"I'm not actually writing an episode for Season 5 ... It takes me roughly a month to do an episode, so I decided, given the realities, I'd better skip this one this season and just concentrate on finishing the book." Martin said in a Zap2it interview after the 2014 Comic-con event in San Diego.

What's more, is that additional reports are claiming that filming for 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 has already started in preparation for the aforementioned premiere.
