'War Room' Movie Impacting Marriages, Bringing Racial Reconciliation & Reviving Prayer Life After Opening Weekend [VIDEO]

Co-writer and director Alex Kendrick of the new film 'War Room' took to Facebook with extraordinary testimonies of how the film is impacting people in droves.

'War Room' was the No. 1 new movie at the box office this past weekend, making over 11 million in its opening weekend. The highly anticipated fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick (Fireproof, Courageous, Facing the Giants, Flywheel) showcases the power fighting your toughest battles in prayer.

Kendrick took to social media to thank everyone for the first weekend successes and he also shared what he called "incredible reports" of how the film is impacting people.

"There was a couple that left the movie together. The husband in the hallway outside of the theater fell to his knees and apologized to his wife that he had been married to for decades, for several things that had happened in their marriage," Kendrick shared, "A church group leaving the theater saw this happen and circled up around them and began praying for them."

Another account showed the power of God to bring people of all races together.

"There was an African American church and a predominately white church leaving the theater at the same time. They met in the lobby began talking, a prayer time broke out and then they started praising God in song in the atrium of this theater. Linking arms and praying together with the employees going, 'what in the world is going on here?' it was like a church service," he enthusiastically said.

Kendrick spoke of many other reports he heard of people breaking out into spontaneous prayer in the theaters. Many even came to know Jesus as their savior. He said an elderly lady grabbed a young man who bought a ticket for an R rated movie and bought him a ticket. That young man gave his life to Jesus that day and then contacted the studio to let them know what happened and the influence the film had made.

'War Room' is a family-friendly movie that explores the transformational role prayer plays in the lives of the Jordan family. Kendrick stated that their distributer, TriStar Pictures, is now looking to add hundreds of more theater sites in the coming weeks.
