Valve Half Life 3 Release Date News: E3 2014 Virtual Reality Headset Among New Features Set to Land
Nearly seven years since the release of Valve's latest Half Life episodic title, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, rumors about the highly anticipated Half Life 3 are circulating, and there is significant buzz around the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 in Los Angeles.
Half Life 2: Episode three, another short addition to the game, was scheduled to release on Steam, Christmas 2007. To some fans' disappointment, but to the delight of many, the game's release was postponed and pending its release in the future as the full title Half Life 3.
The game has been anticipated with great demand for so long that many feel Valve needs to deliver a new and astonishing experience, apart from anything like it before. From hoaxes on release dates and fraudulent fan made logos, the hype might be insurmountable.
When Half Life 3 is finally released, it could result in one of two outcomes; a fantastic addition to the series, or the biggest flop and disappointment of any video game in history.
There is hope. Speculation on Valve's plans for E3 lead fans to a work in progress innovation, their VR headset. Virtual Reality is said to be the future of gaming, so what better time to release HL3 when it could coincide with the VR headset for all to marvel at the new possibilities and features.
Another source writes of leaked documents linking Valve with a new game engine in development, Source 3. While Half Life 3 may not be announced at E3, Source 3, its potential engine, might be a focal talking point.
E3 will take place at Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California from June 10 - 12, 2014.
